We won in the Restaurant of the Year (European Influence category) at the 2009 Taste of Staffordshire awards, coming 2nd place!
"Moddershall Oaks was an impressive looking venue. It appeared very welcoming on what was a dark and wet night.
As we entered, we were particularly impressed to be greeted by a member of staff, even though he was busy with another customer. He acknowledged us and directed us
to a table in the lounge. As soon as he was free, he took our drinks order and gave us menus, mentioning the available specials as he did so.
There was a good range of dishes on the menu to satisfy most tastes, with vegetarian options being included. The use of local produce was very evident on the main
course menu. The wine list had a good range of products, with something to suit all tastes and budgets. The member of staff who took our
order proved knowledgeable when we enquired about ingredients in some of the dishes.
When our table was ready, the waitress took us through to the restaurant whilst carrying our drinks on a tray. A choice of white and wholemeal bread was in a basket on
the table.
Both starters looked very attractive on the plate when served, particularly the seafood. The Prawns and Crayfish Tails were light and refreshing. The Duck in
Staffordshire Oatcakes was very moreish. The main course dishes were also attractive. Staffordshire Rump Steak was ordered with an accompaniment of Diane
Sauce. The Steak was perfectly cooked and the Catch of the Day, which was sea bass, was perfect.
The desserts we chose were Crème Brulee and a Cheeseboard. The staff extolled the virtues of their speciality coffees, so we ordered one each.
The two staff on duty worked well as a team and were attentive without being intrusive. Service was professional and efficient throughout."

"Service throughout the evening was extremely competent, with frequent satisfaction checks and very good menu knowledge displayed by Martin.
Dishes were cleared promptly by friendly staff who were very willing and keen to ensure that we enjoyed our experience.
The bill for the meal was incredibly reasonable and I left feeling a tremendous amount of goodwill towards Moddershall Oaks.
The food relied on simple and well known combinations of flavours and presentation was in the style of unfussy home cooking. Top quality ingredients were used and the food was exceptionally well cooked in a clean style."

"A double award winner at the 2006 Taste of Staffordshire Awards, tickets for the Moddershall event had been in such demand that they sold out well in advance and a waiting list was created.
And true to its 'Best Newcomer' award reputation, the venue, service, food and overall experience certainly lived up to everyone's high expectations. The sunny start to the evening enabled the champagne reception to be held outdoors on a terrace overlooking the gardens."

"This establishment was one of the most 'magical' I had been to in a long time. The food was prepared, cooked and presented to an extremely high standard, by a chef who obviously know what they were doing.
The location, surroundings and standard of food and service, were such that it was very good value for money. A combination of the location, the food and the service made for a most memorable experience."
